After seeing a positive initial response to the News Digest app, Yahoo is bringing its news curation and summary service to the world. Starting today Yahoo News Digest is available to people around the world through its new Android app and its new Canadian and English-language international editions.
Yahoo News Digest for Android
Like Yahoo News Digest for iOS, the Android app will deliver summaries of the top news twice daily (once at 8 a.m. and once at 6 p.m. local time), curated through algorithms and humans alike. The international edition will be compiled by editors in the U.S, U.K. and Malaysia to offer round-the-clock coverage.
Special to Yahoo News Digest for Android is a new homescreen widget that will display the most recent unread news digest along with a countdown to your next digest.
Yahoo News Digest originally launched in January for iOS users in the U.S. and the U.K. Nick D’Aloisio, product manager of Yahoo News Digest, reports an “overwhelming” response to the app, with 40% of those who downloaded it using the app daily.
