Pinterest Rolls Out New Site Design to Improve Discovery

Pinterest has been busy recently launching a new analytic tool last week and now rolling out a completely redesigned site to go along with it. In January, Pinterest started to test a new look with a select group of pinners, designed to make discovering things on Pinterest much easier. Since then, Pinterest used the feedback from these influencers to make even more site improvements!

Today, Pinterest announced they are rolling out this improved look to everyone. If you haven’t seen the new design yet you should receive an invitation soon.

New Discovery Features

Pinterest has added new features for close-up views of pins to help discover things you love that you may have otherwise missed before, including:

  • Pins from the same board: Now you can explore the entire board without leaving the page you’re on.
  • Pins from the same source: Here you can find other things pinned from the same website.
  • People who pinned this also pinned: This is literally what it says it is. Pinterest mentioned the feature as, “Clever, we hope. We’ll be updating our Android and iOS apps soon to include this.”
  •

    Other Changes

Pinterest’s goal with this update is to make things simpler and cleaner, without requiring people to learn anything new. You’ll notice subtle but useful changes like bigger pins and more related content visible.

Also when you scroll through pins and click on something of interest, the back button will take you right back where you came from no matter how far you’ve scrolled.

Finally, Pinterest also rebuilt the foundation of which the website was built making the site more reliable and easier for them to improve.

The new Pinterest roll out definitely makes the site feel cleaner, faster and more engaging!
