Klout to Be Acquired by Social Customer Service Company Lithium Technologies

After launching a content recommendation and sharing tool within its service, Klout is set to be acquired by social customer service company Lithium Technologies.

The deal is “signed but not closed,” according to Re/code, and amounts to at least $100 million dollars worth of cash and Lithium private stock.

Klout is a Web service and app that ranks the online influence of social media users. Acquiring Klout seems to make sense for Lithium Technologies, which offers enterprise software for managing the customer experience through social media. With Klout’s knack for finding the most influential social media users, Lithium Technologies could potentially offer brands even more intelligent strategies for creating online brand advocates.

Lithium Technologies’ clients include Best Buy, AT&T, Skype, Virgin Atlantic and Sephora, among others.

Klout has produced a number of tools for businesses, including Klout Perks, which allowed brands to offer special freebies to customers with influential online personas.
