YouTube Announces Its First-Ever Music Awards

YouTube Announces its First-Ever Music AwardsAre you a fan of live music and real-time drama? Today YouTube has introduced a new music awards celebration coming in November featuring your favorite video producers from over the past year!

The live event on November 3 will feature performances by Lady Gaga, Eminem, Arcade Fire, and many YouTube-born stars like CDZA and violinist and dubstep extraordinaire Lindsey Stirling. Performances will take place in cities around the world, including Seoul, Moscow, and Rio, with the main event taking place in New York.

Jason Schwartzman will host and Spike Jonze will be doing the creative directing – expect your favorite musicians to “create new music videos in real time, live on YouTube.”

The YouTube awards are looking to make a move on MTV‘s VMA show, by bringing the power of the Internet to real life:

“We’re setting out to create a night that’s all about making things and creativity in the spirit of everyone that uses YouTube,” mentioned creative director Spike Jonze. “As well as giving out awards, we’ll be making live music videos. The whole night should feel like a YouTube video itself.”

The nominees will be announced October 17.
