Worried About Checking Everything Off Your Bucket List? Here’s an App to Remind You of Your Mortality

bucket lister app life timer“Life is short. Find out just how short with Bucket Lister,” reads its tagline. Bucket Lister is an iOS app that makes for a tough-love style life coach. The app encourages you to check items off your bucket list by reminding you how few days you have left to accomplish them.

Much like SeeYourFolks.com does with your parents’ information, Bucket Lister will use country averages to calculate how much time you have left on Earth. Bucket Lister will display your time left graphically in a pie chart, accompanied by the percent of your life remaining and the specific number of days, months, and/or years remaining for you. Hopefully seeing your remaining days quantified this way will encourage you to add “dreams and goals” to your bucket list, complete with color coding, due dates, progress trackers, and (my favorite part) consequences for not accomplishing each goal.

The app allows you to add an unlimited number of dreams and goals to your bucket list and sort them by color, dude date, or progress. Bucket Lister can also remind you of your dreams and goals and share your progress on Twitter, Facebook, and Google+.

Most of all, Bucket Lister promises to use “the most powerful motivator of all” to get you on your feet: fear.

  1. OMG, this looks kewl! I’ma try it out to see whether it’s fun + helpful versus stressful and annoying. I like to think I need all the pressure I can get in the form of motivation. We’ll find out if that’s really true or not…

  2. I’m an Anti-Aging Coach and the only problem I have with this app is the self-fulfilling prophecy aspect. I’m working to beat national averages for longevity but nothing I do is as powerful as someones belief that in 2 years and 5 months they are going to die.
