What Small Objects Think When You Forget Them on the Street

When was the last time you thought about, or even noticed, trash or misplaced items on the street? Probably a long time ago. Just because these objects aren’t on our minds, though, doesn’t mean they don’t exist.

In her Little Lost Project, graphic design student Yoonjin “Zoonzin” Lee gives a voice to small found objects. Lee collects items like discarded lighters, abandoned subway cards and lost paper clips she finds on New York streets and attaches hand-written messages to the items before putting them back where she found them. The messages tell unsuspecting passersby (and Lee’s online audience) of the suffering of abandonment in a way that will make you reminisce about that Chap Stick tube you lost last winter.
