Art is a powerful form of expression that can be used to capture our emotions and challenge hypocrisies within our society. Cuban cartoonist Angel Boligán is famous for his scathing illustrations that depict the state of contemporary politics, consumerism and corruption in our culture.
Each drawing will lure you in to search for a deeper meaning, and soon you’ll find yourself asking some of the same questions Boligán is able to cleverly depict. For example, are we puppets that are chained to our electronic gadgets and gizmos, our strings being pulled by corporations? Or while we steer our shopping carts in stores, who is actually steering us?
