Still reeling from last season’s bloody “Red Wedding” episode, Game of Thrones fans are anxiously waiting for Season 4 to premiere tonight. In addition to more grisly deaths and epic battles, fans can expect to see the result of some of the most costly video production on TV right now.
Show creators David Benioff and Dan Weiss told New York Daily News that a scene in the final episode of the upcoming season “represents the highest dollars-per-second cost” the show’s seen yet. The creators also touted pulling off their most challenging battle scene to date in which Jon Snow’s (Kit Harington) Night’s Watch warriors come under siege by a hundred thousand Wildlings and supernatural beings. “…This season is the most colossal one yet,” according to Benioff and Weiss.
Immediately following tonight’s Game of Thrones premiere is the debut of Silicon Valley, a 30-minute comedy about the wild life of software development and entrepreneurship in the world’s most followed tech hub. Brought to HBO by the creator of Office Space, the show follows Richard (Thomas Middleditch), the creator of a yet-to-be-priced compression algorithm, while he walks the line between becoming a total asshole and striking Silicon Valley gold. Besides commending the shows portrayal of spot-on tech hub types, critics say the show is guaranteed to make you laugh out loud (in a totally non-computer acronym way).
Catch the Game of Thrones Season 4 premiere tonight at 9 p.m. EST and the Silicon Valley debut immediately after at 10 p.m.
