Egypt has been rocked by protests and clashes that led to the overthrow of Mohamed Morsi, the country’s first president since the Egyptian Revolution in February 2011. Since the overthrow, violence in the country has escalated to the point where it is difficult for outsiders to gain a perspective on events in the country.
