Listen: Arctic Monkeys’ New Album Hits iTunes Streams One Week Before Release

arctic monkeysYou can now stream Arctic Monkeys’ new record, AM, in full on iTunes, almost one week before it drops on September 10th!

The recording was put together in Los Angeles and Joshua Tree, California, following a massive tour with the Black Keys and a performance at the opening ceremony of the 2012 London Olympics. You can also catch the Arctic Monkeys rocking out the iTunes Festival in London on September 9th. The AM tour will also hit New York, Boston, Philadelphia and Atlanta in the next few weeks.

And for those of you who can’t bear to wait for those live performances, check out the band’s concert in Glastonbury from earlier this year (fast forward to 3:24 for an epic intro to “Do I Wanna Know”):

Recently in an interview with Rolling Stone, Artic Monkeys’ frontman, Alex Turner, said, “AM found Arctic Monkeys expanding their live-wire, pub-rock sound into influences from sludgy, Sabbath-esque 1970s rock to 1990s hip-hop like Dr. Dre and Outkast. The record also features guest vocals from Queens of the Stone Age’s Josh Homme.” (Turner, in turn, appeared on that band’s latest release, …Like Clockwork).

“It’s like a chemical reaction,” Turner said. “If you get the wrong amount of one element, smoke comes out of the test tube. There was a lot of demo’ing and dead ends.”
