Sharing 101: What Is a Burst?

Back in the day, to communicate across distances, we used radios or telephones to send out high-speed transmissions, concentrated waves and pulses of information. Today the ‘Burst‘ enables communication between social networks that themselves use dissimilar data. One Burst allows you, for example, to share an embedded post via Facebook, Twitter, Google+ and other sites.

On DashBurst a Burst is a post which can take on many shapes and sizes, including a status update, photo, video, audio, doc, infographic, web link, list, embed from another network and more, all quickly being distributed to various social media channels simultaneously.

In the next few weeks we will be adding the ability to automatically syndicate Bursts to your other social network profiles, simultaneously, starting with Facebook, Twitter, Tumblr and LinkedIn. That means, with one press of a button, you can use DashBurst to post on social networks across the web. Our goal is to become a go-to source of original content on the web and a useful social media dashboard/management tool all-in-one.

Beyond bursting different media types, you can even add dozens of photos and links to each Burst post. Users can also optionally add Bursts to various topic boards to organize their content, and users can follow specific, individual Boards and Bursts, without necessarily following the original user. DashBurst offers lots of interesting ways to follow and share different kinds of social media. Our goal: to break down the barriers between sharing different content types in hopes of changing how we collaborate together online.

Are you ready to start bursting your content on the web?
