Noticed Something Different in Your Last Google Search? Say Goodbye to Underlined Links and Hello to Bigger Titles

Did you notice anything different the last time you searched for something on Google? If not, try searching again, and keep your eyes open!

Taking design cues from Google’s mobile search, the search giant has recently removed underlined links from desktop search results and increased the font size of page titles. “This improves readability and creates an overall cleaner look,” Google lead designer Jon Wiley told the Verge.

Though the changes are minor, they make a big difference in a search engine design that hasn’t changed much in years. They also signal an internet-wide shift away from the Web design standards of the 1990s. It appears blinking text, scrolling marquees and underlined links will only appear in our nostalgic dreams from now on!
