8-Bit Abstract Representations of Classic Images

Some pictures are so recognizable they can even be identified in the most abstract of forms. Artist Adam Lister proves this by reconstructing a set of iconic paintings and famous pop culture figures using 8-bit watercolor paintings. Though the work has a minimalist feel to it, you ought to be able to decipher your favorite Van Gogh’s in short order and quickly spot the likes of Mr. Rogers, Bob Ross, Harrison Ford and Chewbacca via the Star Wars crew.

According to Lister:

These pictures are like puzzles, carefully taken apart and then pieced back together to reveal the subject. By referencing classical works of art, and nostalgic scenes and objects, I find these works to be transformations of images that have a collective familiarity.
