The First Instagram From Space Is An Astronaut Selfie Wearing a “Firefly” T-Shirt

Instagram is truly out of this world now that photos are literally being captured and uploaded extraterrestrially.

On April 7, NASA astronaut Steve Swanson uploaded the first Instagram photo from space. The photo, taken aboard the International Space Station, was a selfie featuring the astronaut wearing a T-shirt from the space television show Firefly. Behind him you can see Earth’s atmosphere whirling. Swanson’s other images document his orbit and show off parts of the world including Turks and Caicos, the Maldive Islands, Cape Canaveral, and, perhaps most spectacularly, the Northern Lights over Europe. He has uploaded six photos in all.
