The countdown to the release of the new Xbox One gaming console is in effect until its global midnight release on November 22.
Microsoft has just announced a few marquee events taking place in cities across the globe including New York, Los Angeles, London, Berlin, Paris, Vienna, São Paulo, Toronto and Sydney. All the festivities will be broadcasted live on Spike TV starting at 11 p.m. EST and on Xbox.com and Xbox Live.
And best of all, you are invited to the party!
“In the U.S, the ultimate midnight celebration will take place in Times Square in New York City,” writes Lisa Gurry, editor of the Xbox Wire. “The world of Xbox One will come to life as zombies, Roman soldiers and supercars converge on the Best Buy Theater, where awaiting fans will be among the first in America to receive their consoles and countdown to midnight with great games, entertainment and special surprises.”
The evening will be headlined by a Macklemore and Ryan Lewis concert, streamed outside the Best Buy Theater and attended by 1,000 fans. The first 1,000 people who line up outside the Best Buy Theater in Times Square and purchase an Xbox One or Xbox One game can enjoy the concert in-person and take Forza Motorsport 5, Ryse: Son of Rome, Dead Rising 3, Killer Instinct and other games for a spin.
Los Angeles will be turned into another gamer haven, with stations set up for playing new games. The first 500 gamers in LA to buy a new Xbox console or game will be invited to enjoy an exclusive concert with deadmau5.
Over 10,000 retail locations in 13 countries will open their doors to gamers at 12:01 a.m. on November 22, with retailers planning their own special events ranging from free giveaways to other entertaining visual spectacles.
