Can businesses and marketers afford to overlook video content any longer?
With the popularity of video sites like YouTube, Vimeo, Vine, and now Instagram, video content is exploding on the internet. Every month, 4 billion videos are streamed in the US by 75 million people. That’s 1/4th of the entire U.S. population!
It’s no wonder that, according to Uberflip, 87% of marketers use video in their content marketing efforts, while only 66% use blogs, and 44% use articles and/or photo galleries.
Video Ad Spend
Video ad spend is also growing fast. In fact, by 2015 $6.3 billion dollars will be spent on video ads!
Currently YouTube is king of the jungle, with 2 billion videos streamed each year. This makes sense given that YouTube is the second-largest online search engine online, only behind its parent company Google!
Social Video Apps
Video is simply everywhere now, too – even in your pocket. Since introducing video several weeks ago, Instagram has seen 130 million active users uploading videos to the service. At the same time, Vine has still seen 13 million app downloads in the span of just one week.
If they say one motionless picture is worth a thousand words, how many is a video worth? A million?
