Stormscapes: a Thrilling Timelapse of Severe Weather Storms [VIDEO]
You know that ominous moment when a storm is brewing, when the sky turns dark and the air goes still? Photographer Nicolaus Wegner captured this moment and more, in his intense and thrilling time-lapse of severe weather storms, called “Stormscapes 2.”
In his time-lapse, Wegner captures all the elements of storms, from the calm before to the swirling and rolling clouds as the storm approaches, from the explosion of wind, rain and lightning to the storm’s final throes and the post-storm peace.
The video takes place in the West and Midwest of the United States, as Wegner explains on the video’s Vimeo page:
High plains storms are some of the most beautiful and wild in the world. I spent May – September 2014 photographing all types of severe weather in Wyoming, Montana, South Dakota, Nebraska, and Colorado. This time lapse project is a result of that effort. From rainbows to tornadoes, there is a little bit of everything in here.
