Beautiful Scotland: An Epic View Taken by a Drone [VIDEO]

If you’ve ever wanted to see Scotland, here’s your chance to get breathtaking views of the country. Edinburgh-based filmmaker John Duncan used a GoPro camera attached to a type of drone called a quadcopter to capture the aerial footage of the country’s crags, lighthouses, and bridges.

Filming the video was a true adventure for Duncan, one that involved camping on top of Scottish mountain Sgurr a’Mhaim as the sun set, driving overnight to catch the sunrise over the rocky hill Old Man of Storr on the Isle of Skye, and chasing the Jacobite Steam Train. The result: a spectacular video of scenic Scotland.

On the video’s Vimeo page, Duncan writes:

Over the past 8 or so months I’ve travelled around Scotland usually getting up at offensively early times to get good light. I wanted to make a film which really shows what a beautiful country Scotland is. Living in Edinburgh we’re fortunate to have some truly magnificent sights on our doorstep.
