The Origins of Memes [VIDEO]

There’s a meme for everything these days, but it wasn’t always that way. While many of today’s favorite memes are featured on sites like Imgur and Reddit, YouTube Channel Top10Memes traced them back to their exact origins, often in the pre-meme days. The memes arise from all kinds of movies, shows and video clips from the 60s sci-fi show Star Trek to animated shows like Southpark, from fantasy movies like Lord of the Rings (the 2000s) and Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory (1971) to comedies like The Big Lebowski (1998) and Anchorman (2004). Watch the video and see clips showing exactly where the memes come from.
