Watch One World Trade Center Being Built Before Your Eyes [TIMELAPSE]

Standing 1,776 feet tall, One World Trade Center is the tallest skyscraper in the United States and Western Hemisphere. Its construction began in July 2004 and was completed in 2014. To create a timelapse video of its construction, photographer Benjamin Rosamond captured images of the building’s construction from February 2011 to July 2014 as the skyscraper began rising into the Manhattan skyline.

Rosamond took between 30,000 and 50,000 photos in total and then picked 1,100 to use for his video. Most of the images used were those taken soon after sunrise, when the colors of the skyline were most striking. At the end of the video, Rosamond showcases the tower from day to night, using photos from a single sunrise and sunset.

Rosamond told Popsugar that:

It shows progress that is not visibly obvious to the naked eye . . . it highlights the changes that happen too slowly to notice in real time.
