Marvel Releases First Peaks at Upcoming Show Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.
Marvel has posted the first look at its new TV series Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. and suffice it to say that the show is looking mighty catchy. Coming soon to ABC, the series follows Agent Phil Coulson (Clark Gregg) as he returns to action after the events of the summer blockbuster The Avengers. To defend the globe from the new, the strange, and the unknown, Coulson assembles a small, highly select group of Agents, namely Agent Grant Ward (Brett Dalton), expert in combat and espionage; pilot and martial artist Agent Melinda May (Ming-Na Wen, alumna of my alma mater, I must add); and brilliant but socially awkward scientists Agent Leo Fitz (Iain De Caestecker) and Agent Jemma Simmons (Elizabeth Henstridge). Their initial investigations lead them to civilian computer hacker Skye (Chloe Bennet). That’s one hell of a crime-fighting team, if you ask me.
ABC warns us this show will be awesome:
“Prepare for an epic adventure that showcases the hope and wonder of the human spirit. This is a world of Super Heroes, aliens and the unusual—of action, spectacle and world spanning stories. The show will speak to the human condition through the lens of our very human, non-powered S.H.I.E.L.D agents—that together we are greater than we are apart, and that we can make a difference in the world.”

Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. is sure to be a hit with executive producers and co-writers Joss (The Avengers, Buffy the Vampire Slayer) and Jed Whedon, Maurissa Tancharoen (Dollhouse, Dr.Horrible’s Sing-Along Blog), Jeffrey Bell (Angel, Alias) and Jeph Loeb (Smallville, Lost, Heroes) on board.
No word yet on Agents‘ air date but I know we’ll all be waiting anxiously in front of our televisions (or mobile devices) when that golden day comes.
Besides Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., what shows will you be watching this fall?
