Being a celebrity has its advantages, but it also has its downsides, like constantly being under the scrutiny of the judgmental public’s eye. To shed some light on this not-so-sunny aspect of fame, Jimmy Kimmel created a new “Mean Tweets” segment on his show. In it, celebrities read aloud the mean things people tweet about them.
In this edition of “Mean Tweets,” Kimmel brings Mindy Kaling, Courtney Cox, Matthew McConaughey, Julia Roberts and Don Cheadle.
Some of the celebrities take the tweets in stride by laughing, such as Julia Roberts about the size of her mouth and Gary Oldmen about his accents. Others like Ashton Kutcher and David Blane, maintained amusingly unamused faces. McConaughey even got confused by his insulting tweet. Of course some of the stars, like Sophia Vergara, get feisty with sarcastic comebacks – just look at June Squibb, who surprisingly returned the favor with her own reciprocating insult.
Take a look at this entertaining clip of Kimmel’s “Mean Tweets” and, for once, enjoy one of the perks of not being famous.
