Watch a Comedy Show This Week for Free With Comic Relief and Google Hangouts

Can you imagine attending a comedy show from the comforts of your own living room? The Edinburgh Fringe festival is one of the greatest art festivals on the planet, where thousands of spectators come through Edinburgh to catch up-and-coming comedians and artists performing in local bars and venues around the city. And now you can sit up-close, even from afar.

For those of you who have always wanted to see the Fringe, you’re in luck: now you can enjoy all the fun and laughter to be had from your sofa, and even heckle a comedian or two! But watch out, you might just get picked on, too! Comic Relief has partnered with Google to bring you the world’s first online comedy club, the “Hangout Comedy Club.” You’ll be able to sit front row no matter where you are thanks to Google+ Hangouts and YouTube. Plus, the event is for a good cause: proceeds will be used to tackle the root causes of poverty and social injustice around the world.

If you’d like to check out the Hangout Comedy Club, just join a Google+ Hangout hosted by any of the participating comedians including Katherine Ryan, Sanderson Jones, and Joey Page. Each hangout will be attended by eight other brave individuals, and, course you can stay out of site if you’d rather watch incognito.

The next Hangout starts today, August 15th, at 10 p.m. BST (that’s 5 p.m. Eastern) featuring Sanderson Jones. Find out who else will be in attendance and get your free seat here.

Just like a real comedy club, if you’re brave enough, you can join the front row with up to eight others. If you’d rather sit out of sight, join a Hangout, add your friends, and watch from the safety of the back row.

In case you’re wondering, here’s what it feels like to get heckled at a comedy club by a funny man like Dave Chapelle:

But don’t worry, here’s some inspiration for how to turn the attention on any would-be heckler!
