Watch Charlie Day of ‘It’s Always Sunny’ Deliver an Epic Commencement Speech [VIDEO]

Have you ever had to choose between pursuing your dream and taking on a job that was kinda related to your dream, but wasn’t quite it? This is exactly the crossroads actor and screenwriter Charlie Day found himself in shortly after graduating from Merrimack College. Fortunately he lived to tell his story as part of his commencement speech at his alma mater last Sunday.

Broke and living in New York, Day had just started shooting a homemade version of what would eventually become It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia when he was offered a spot on the Fox sitcom Life on a Stick. Though the thought of a steady income was tempting, Day stuck to his guns and chose to take a bet on himself. He turned the job down.

To date It’s Always Sunny has filmed 10 seasons; Life on a Stick was canceled after 5 episodes.

Day uses the story to inspire new graduates to believe in themselves and pursue their passions. “Don’t wait for your break. Make your break. Go make it happen for yourself,” he said during his speech.
