Celebrating 4 Years of One Direction [VIDEO]

Four years ago, English-Irish pop boy band One Direction performed at the 2010 X Factor and came in third place. But that was just the beginning for the band. Since their debut, One Direction has taken the world by storm, capturing the hearts of many teenage girls along the way.

One Direction is made up of Niall Horan, Zayn Malik, Liam Payne, Harry Styles and Louis Tomlinson. After their third place finish at X Factor, One Direction signed with Simon Cowell’s record label, Syco Records.

With the help of social media, the band has been wildly successful, with three albums – Up All Night (2011), Take Me Home (2012) and Midnight Memories (2013) – hitting top charts and breaking records in most major markets. Hit singles from the albums include “What Makes You Beautiful,” “Live While We’re Young” and “Story of My Life”.

One Direction has won two BRIT Awards; in 2012, “What Makes You Beautiful” won for Best British Single. The band has also won three NME awards, two Kids’ Choice Awards, and four MTV Video Music Awards. At the 2012 Teen Choice Awards, One Direction won all nine awards they were nominated for. The band also won both American Music Awards they were nominated for, including Favorite Pop/Rock Album and Favorite Pop/Rock Band/Duo/Group.

Happy 4 years, One Direction!
