Hundreds of Mountain Climbers Scale the Swiss Alps for a Monumental Photoshoot

Previously, Swiss mountaineering equipment company Mammut used a drone to capture an image of nine climbers braving one of the major peaks in the Bernese Alps in Switzerland. That photo is part of a series by Swiss photographer Robert Bösch to celebrate the 150th anniversary of the first ascent of the Matterhorn ridge in the Alps.

Mammut asked Bösch to capture photos for the company’s 2015 ad campaign that involves hundreds of adventurous mountaineers climbing the Swiss alps. Bösch captured several photos, but one in particular will celebrate the first ascent of the Matterhorn ridge by Edward Whymper and his team: the hundreds of climbers wearing bright red lights at dawn, illuminating the path Whymper and his team took on that first ascent.

Bösch is a photographer, mountain guide and geographer who has worked as a freelance photographer for over 30 years, specializing in outdoor, action and landscape photography.
