Travel Back to Your Childhood With These Fantasy Worlds Created By Photo Manipulation

What if the fantastical worlds you used to dream of as a child were real? France-based artist, designer and creative mind Alastair Magnaldo turns those worlds into reality through his artwork.

By combining and manipulating several photos, Magnaldo creates surreal images that appear to be from fantasy and dreams. Magnaldo’s images involve a child or several children exploring unknown, bizarre worlds where real and fantasy meet: Rocks, keys, eggs, and other objects hang from the sky. The sun finds form in the canvas of a sail. Unlikely animals become your companion. You can climb forever up infinite ladders.

While Magnaldo’s work portrays untroubled and peaceful worlds, the images themselves take significant time to create. Magnaldo begins by sketching his ideas, scans photographs and then spends more than six hours digitally altering the photos, merging and manipulating them.
