Artist Creates Real-Life Dream Worlds in Her Tiny Seoul Studio
Have you ever closed your eyes and wished the room around you would magically turn into a world of clouds or a spiraling scene reminiscent of Alice in Wonderland? Korean artist JeeYoung Lee converts her 11.8-foot by 13.5-foot by 7.8-foot studio in Seoul into fantasy worlds, according to DeMilked. Using no digital trickery whatsoever, Lee preserves her worlds through photographic self portraits. Then, when the photograph is complete, Lee tears down her elaborate, perfect scenes and starts fresh.
Lee’s surreal photographs are a way for her to tell her own life stories and Korean fables. Her show, Stage of Mind, goes on display at Opiom Gallery in Opio, France starting February 7, 2014.
