The Simpsons’ Springfield Illustrated as an Abandoned Town

The Simpsons normally live in the hustling and bustling town of Springfield. But Austin-based illustrator and print-maker Tim Doyle decided to recreate the Simpsons‘ hometown as a noir, even post-apocalyptic town.

Doyle began creating these illustrations as part of his UnReal Estate series, which feature re-imagined versions of fictional locations and cities from television shows. (The series was shown at Spoke Art Gallery in San Francisco; the Simpsons illustrations and prints pretty much sold out.) Doyle’s version of Springfield depicts a town that’s fallen on hard times. Did the town scccumb to a “rapture threat?”
