365 Days of Type: A Custom-Designed Numerical Font for Each Day of 2013
Are you familiar with Project 365? This is a type of self-defined undertaking where, starting January 1, a person pledges to do one particular thing every day for a year. Such projects can help the doers grow artistically while creating a large, varied body of work.
For her Project 365, visual artist Sabrina Smelko is creating a custom-designed numerical font for each day of 2013 and publishing them as their corresponding number one through 365. In “365 Days of Type,” each font is distinct from the others; some are playful, some abstract, and some have regal flair.
Smelko’s story is an interesting one. She grew up in Milton Ontario with the dream of becoming a surgeon, but realized she was making a mistake and enrolled in an illustration program instead. She’s emerged from her change in career paths with a portfolio of work for clients as big as The Globe and Mail and Cadbury. Check out some of her fonts below:
