NPR’s Planet Money blog created an interactive chart ranking Halloween costumes over the past five years. If you hover over a specific costume, like zombie or ghost, you can track its rise and fall in popularity between 2009 and 2013. Although many costumes have spikes in popularity, the perennial favorites are witch, vampire and pirate.
