After dazzling fans with her witchy “Dark Horse” performance at the 2014 Grammy Awards, Katy Perry is giving fans another reason to freak out: she’s become the first Twitter user to reach 50 million followers! To put this in perspective, President Obama, the most-followed world leader, sports just over 41 million Twitter followers.
Perry has been bound to achieve this since late last year, when she replaced Justin Bieber as the world’s most-followed Twitter user:
It’s common for pop culture icons to set such Twitter milestones; Ashton Kutcher was the first user to reach 1 million followers, Lady Gaga was the first to reach 10, 20 and 30 million followers and Justin Bieber was the first to hit 40 million, according to AllTwitter.
Who do you predict will become the next top Twitter user?
