Just over a month ago, Instagram launched video capabilities for users, and today the network announces another major update with Instagram 4.1. After adding some of the most highly requested features, like the ability to embed posts on other sites, Instagram announces the following updates: import video from your library, automatic straightening for iOS, and video for Instagram on Ice Cream Sandwich.
Import Video from Your Library
Now you can upload videos directly from your phone’s media library and share these with friends on Instagram, regardless of when or how they were captured. Upon import you can also trim video clips down to only those parts you want to share as well as crop your video into a square shape to keep your action front and center!
Automatic Straightening for iOS
Is there anything more distracting than a crooked horizon in a photo? Today, Instagram is releasing a brand new technology for better photo alignment.
Instagram wrote on its blog,
We’re happy to announce that we’ve developed a brand new technology that brings you straight photos instantly. When you take a photo with the in-app camera, you can now tap the new Straighten icon and your photo will correct to be level—it’s that simple. The straightening tool also includes a slider so you can rotate and adjust any photo—including ones imported from your photo library—as much or as little as you’d like.
Video on Instagram for Ice Cream Sandwich
Instagram has also just expanded video features to people who use Android 4.0 (a.k.a. Ice Cream Sandwich). Since the inception of video on Instagram, expansion to Ice Cream Sandwich has been, by far, the Android community’s number-one request.
