Did you know that more than a quarter of the time we spend online is spent on social networks like Facebook?
According to data from market research firm GlobalWebIndex, the number is actually 28%. That translates into approximately one hour and forty minutes of social networking each day. The firm surveyed internet users between the ages of 16 and 64.
The average person in the survey spent over six hours online a day. About 13% of that time was spent “micro-blogging,” the online activity that consumed the second-most time after social networking. Interestingly, the survey counted Twitter as a “micro-blog” rather than as a social network. This means that 28% of our time is spent on social media sites other than Twitter.
