Flip a Switch, Save the World (Infographic)

Although Earth Day 2014 has come and gone, there are still many simple steps we can take to protect our beautiful planet. This year the buzz phrase around Earth Week was #LightsOffScreenOn and it’s a good one to remember. While watching television or using your computer or tablet, turn a couple lights off.

If, for just 1 hour per day everyone in the U.S. turned off two lights in our homes that would normally be on, we could save over 5 billion kilowatt hours of electricity. This may not sound like much, but when you consider that the amount of coal it would take to create that much electricity could fill up the Empire State Building nearly 3 times, you can see that little steps can and do lead to huge change! Green is Universal shows what a significant impact such a simple reminder could make if everyone in the world participated in the infographic below.
