Yahoo Taps Into Flickr for New ‘Picture of the Day’ Column

Rounding Chapmans Peak by Charles MercerFlickr is introducing a new project that looks to bring the best snapshots and stories to even larger audiences. The photo sharing site has teamed up with Yahoo’s photo editors from around the world to launch Yahoo Picture of the Day, a new daily column that will be prominently featured on Yahoo News in various countries and regions including France, Germany, Italy, the Middle East, South Africa, Spain and the United Kingdom for starters, with many more to come.

The featured column is set to begin on December 9. Flickr writes on its blog:

We invite you to join the group and share your photos and the stories behind them with the editors and the rest of the community. Make sure your photo has a meaningful title and description outlining the story, join Picture of the Day and share it in the group! We’re looking forward to hearing your stories.”

Check out a few winners from the Picture of the Day collection so far including a stunning shot from Cape Town, South Africa:
