Jay-Z Drops ‘New Magna Carta Holy Grail’ Album [LISTEN]

jay-z magna carta holy grail album

jay-z magna carta holy grail albumJay-Z turned a lot of heads when he announced three weeks ago he was going to give his new album away for free to 1 million Samsung Galaxy owners on July 4, a full 72 hours before it would be released to the world. Having built up the anticipation, Jay-Z set the bar high for the album, his 12th solo performance.

On the internet, first impressions suggest he’s delivered again, albeit some frustrated fans have taken to social media to vent about the problematic early download app. On the album, though, the always confident Jay-Z, who once claimed to walk on water, boasts of his growing wealth and success. At the same time, in songs like “Picasso, Baby,” he contemplates what it’s all really worth and if it’s ever really enough. Despite making millions in sales already, Nickles and Dimes still appear to weigh heavily on him. He raps about being a Brooklyn street hustler turned rapper and paying back the game through charitable contributions. Jay-Z also gets some help on the album from the likes of Justin Timberlake, Frank Ocean and Rick Ross.

Despite having achieved so much success, he hasn’t lost sight of what got him there in the first place: tight beats and lyrical prowess. The album was a lock to go platinum before it even hit the streets, so check out a few fresh joints of the new album below!
