I Like This Poster Book. But What Is It?

Visualized words can be a persuasive form of communication. Anthony Burrill is a graphic designer and print-maker renowned for his work with language and the presentation of words. His use of classic letterpress typefaces combined with simple slogans results in these strikingly profound yet playful works. Burrill has put together a collection of 30 of his best pieces into one extremely photogenic book, I Like It. What Is It?. The book includes humorous typography and inspirational messages throughout, such as, “Walls were meant to shelter you from the inside world.”

Burrill is a great designer because he makes you notice and appreciate truths that would otherwise remain dead and inert. His work has such resonance because it’s so true: we should all work hard and be nice.”
Alain de Botton

If you “Like It” too but want to learn more about the book, check out the prints and video below. You might need to order two of these books, though: one for your shelf and one to tear apart and hang on your wall!
