2013 Charitable Giving ReportDo you like to donate to causes and give to others? You may not be alone, as charitable giving grew 4.9% in 2013, according to a new report by Blackbaud. Blackbaud analyzed data from 4,129 nonprofit organization representing $12.5 billion in total funds raised during 2013.

Blackbaud found that online giving accounted for 6.4% of the year’s donations, but that number is quickly rising; the sector grew a healthy 13.5% in 2013 alone.

The report also shows that larger, especially international, organizations saw the greatest increase in charitable giving while smaller nonprofits experiencing a higher growth rate for online giving.

According to the report, 33% of all charitable giving happens to occur during the last three months of the year, peaking in December, perhaps due to bonus checks coming in and the general giving nature of the holiday season.
